A New Year, The Same Incredible You

Happy 2026, PYC Family!

As we step into January, you’re likely being flooded with "New Year, New You" messages—ads promising a "fixed" version of yourself or a total reinvention. At PYC Sudbury, we’re going to let you in on a little secret: We don’t want a "new" you. Why? Because we’ve seen you on your mat. We’ve seen your grit, your breath, your resilience, and your heart. The "you" that is already here is strong, capable, and more than enough.

Instead of focusing on what needs to change, this month we are focusing on Intention. January isn't about "fixing" what’s broken; it’s about choosing habits that allow you to grow into the person you already are. It’s about creating space for positive rituals—like movement, introspection, and community—that support your life off the mat.

Yoga plays a vital part in that growth. It’s our practice ground for focus and patience. When we commit to our practice, we aren't trying to become someone else; we are simply clearing away the noise so our best selves can lead the way.

Whether you are joining us for our 30 Days to Level Up program, diving deep into the Foundations of the Flow, or just showing up for your regular sweat, know that you are doing it alongside a community that sees your greatness right now.

Let's move, breathe, and grow—together.

See you on the mat,

Allison & Grant

Intention

Our theme for January is Intention. Unlike a resolution, which is often focused on a future result or "fixing" a perceived flaw, an intention is about how you choose to show up in the present moment. It is the "why" behind your breath and the compass that guides your energy off the mat. This month, we invite you to set an intention that feels supportive and kind—perhaps it's to find more patience, deeper breath, or simply more connection with those around you. Let your intention be the gentle focus that leads your practice and your life this year.

Tadasana

This month, we return to the root of our physical practice: Tadasana, or Mountain Pose. While it may look like "just standing," Tadasana is the blueprint for every other pose we take on the mat. It is a moment to ground through your four corners, align your spine, and stand in your power exactly as you are today. This pose reminds us that even in stillness, there is incredible strength and stability. As you stand tall this January, feel the earth beneath you and the space you’ve created for yourself to grow.

With slush and salt season upon us, thank you for helping keep our space clean and calm:

  • Please take off your boots right at the front door and leave your boots in the trays by the red carpet (not in cubbies).

  • Mark your belongings (boots, shoes, jackets, etc.) so they are easily identifiable. We have unique clothes pegs to help you with this!

  • Keep quiet during Savasana—it’s a sacred time of rest.

  • Leave your phone in a cubby on Do Not Disturb during yoga.

  • Bring your own hand towel and mat!

Dear Diary,

I was thinking about the '30 Days to Level Up' program. I realized the introspection part means looking inside myself. I tried that for a few minutes and found out that inside of me, there is mostly just a deep, haunting desire for a taco. I’m looking forward to the weekly meetings so I can see if anyone else’s soul is also shaped like a carnitas bowl.

I’m also signed up to lead the 'Foundations of the Flow' workshop. It’s important to remember that the foundation of any good flow is the floor. Without the floor, we would all just be falling through space, and it is very hard to maintain proper alignment when you are plummeting toward the center of the earth at terminal velocity.

Deep thoughts
